Call
Thought:
You are called and God has a plan for you. So we only have two days left and you might be beginning to wonder, so what happens when I go home? I have had a great time on the mission trip, I feel like I’ve been able to serve a lot, but what happens to me when I go home? What happens is that you continue to be called by God to serve others. God calls each of us and has something in mind for each of you. Today as you work with your hands contemplate, What is God calling me to? How is God calling you to service when you get home?
Prayer for the Week from St. Francis of Assisi:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
Day 3– Identity
Wednesday June 23rd—Identity
Thought:
“In Christ you are a new creation.” When I read that I often hope that I will now have super powers. If I am in fact a new creation then I want to be a new creation that can walk through walls or fly. (this next line is cheesy but true) With Christ we do get a super power that super power is love. I told you it sounds corny but it is the truth; when we find our identity in being a son or daughter of God, sister or brother of Christ (Galatians), our identity becomes love. Not just any kind of love but love that calls us to give all of life to others. How do you love others, what is your identity?
Prayer for the Week from St. Francis of Assisi:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
Day 2
Tuesday June 22nd—Pace
Thought:
It is our second day working. The questions of what we are going to be doing have mostly been answered. We are learning how to work together and we are beginning to understand how our gifts and personalities will mesh. But today I want to remind you of the pace. This week may seem like a sprint, but it must be a marathon. We have tons of energy and enthusiasm today, but we need that same energy and enthusiasm on Friday. Today ask yourself; what am I doing to ensure that I can finish this race, what am I doing to help our team finish strong?
Prayer for the Week from St. Francis of Assisi:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;

to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
Monday June 21st—Word of the Day-Question
Thought:
Rich always tells our confirmands that if they learn nothing else while they are working through the process of confirmation they need to learn to ask questions and that it is ok to ask questions as a part of our faith. One reason that Rich explains this to the confirmands is so that they will make their faith their own, and another is because we all have questions and he wants them to know that it is ok to ask questions. Our God is big enough for questions and it is important that our faith becomes our own. Today as we work, as you pray for the mission team, ask yourself; who am I in Christ? What do I need to do to become the person Christ is calling me to be?
Prayer for the Week from St. Francis of Assisi:

Mission Team Headed to West Virginia

Our Mission Team is headed to West Virginia today. As we leave know that you are going with us and that would be impossible for us to make this trip without you. On the front of our shirts this year it reads "Many Parts...One Body," this is a reminder that we cannot and will not be able to serve this week without the folks who have supported us thus far in our preparation and continue to support us in prayer. Below is a list of all the folks that are going on this trip. Please take time to pray for them by name. We need your prayers. Each day we will post a devotion and pictures on this website. Please take time to check back and leave a comment or two if you can.
